Message Consent Project Unveils Groundbreaking Guide and Lesson Plans for Teaching Consent in Elementary Schools

Transnational Project Meeting in Cagliari Marks Milestone in Consent Education, Aims to Transform Early Childhood Learning

The “Message Consent” project consortium, funded by Erasmus+, proudly announces the finalization of its innovative educational tools at the second Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) held in Cagliari, Sardinia, on November 6th and 7th. This landmark event highlighted the progress in developing vital resources for elementary education: the “Message Consent” Guide and Lesson Plans, set to revolutionize consent education for young learners.

The primary goal of these newly devised materials, available for download at Message Consent’s Activities, is to equip elementary school teachers and education professionals with effective tools for teaching consent as a fundamental life skill. This initiative aligns with the project’s commitment to early intervention in preventing gender-based violence, emphasizing respect for personal boundaries and empowering children to understand and communicate their wishes.

In Cagliari, partners critically reviewed these resources, ensuring their alignment with Human Rights Education (HRE) principles and their effectiveness in conveying crucial communication skills to children aged 8-12. The guide focuses on mentoring educators in imparting negotiation and boundary-setting skills, while the lesson plans feature seven experiential and interactive modules tailored for primary school educators.

Additionally, the meeting in Cagliari underscored the forthcoming launch of the Message Consent Digital Hub and the development of training content by experts. These efforts aim to bolster the European teachers’ community, furthering the project’s reach and impact.
